Summer Training

Summer is Training Time! Birds and field time for the pups. Here's Cliff and Roy (Go Phils!) at 16 weeks old getting some work at camp Foreman over the holiday. These two horses are out of our litter by Red Rage ex Beauty. Twelve more weeks until it's time for the North woods. God I hope they are short weeks!

Wow, only 16 weeks? They are horses aren't they!

Always glad to see setter breedings with size and some leg. We really got off track for a while.

Using the "half their weight at 4 months" theory I expect them to be pushing the 50lb territory. They are cinderblocks, especially Cliff.

We wanted some good conformation in this. We'll see what we end up with. A couple females would have been nice. Rock's litter is the smaller pups size wise and he's the 50 lber. But we got a couple females from that litter to look at. If we start criss crossing Mickey (45 lbs), Duke(49-50), and Rock (50-52), size should follow suit. The female has a huge influence.

Craig - those will be some good sized setters. I'm interested to see how Rock's pup come along. See you in Montana in September?

Mmmmm..... damn it..... How about WI in October? I can't leave until the fiscal year ends, especially if I want to disapear for a spell. But Plan to be in Wi by 1 October and back to PA by 1 Nov for 2 more weeks. 4 trials in Oct and another in PA plus plenty of bird huntin'. Thats the plan for now anyway. Some day I will figure a way out of this hell they call MD. For now I gotta get a pay check and I can't find alternatives.
