Ten Years Young

L-R; Judge Mike "Booker" Groy, Craig Peters and CH Keystone's Red Ryder, Jim Thomas and RU-CH Thomas's Adirondak Ringo, Judge Steve Groy, Region II Amateur Walking Shooting Dog Championship (run at Partridge Run public management area on grouse & woodcock) 9-18-2011

4XCH Keystone's Red Ryder, or Lacey, proved she still has it. My friend asked me this summer when we started prepping for the fall, "I thought you retired here!". Think not my friend! We still believed. At 10+ years of age, having whelped 4 litters, 29 living puppies, and 4 champions to date it is a real testament to the quality of an animal to see her do what she did and be able to give a performance that was more than worthy of a championship. It is a truly rare feat to see animals compete at that level at that age, especially brood females. We may be more proud and impressed by that win than any other.

Have a great October. We will!

Thanks guys! Hey Dale I read your article on the National Amateur Grouse Championship. Very good, very interesting, and very informative. One thing I noticed, of course due to our dogs, is the great number of winners that produce winners and offspring of the same sire and dam that win. It seems the GNG and Nat Amt Grouse have this in common unlike other CHs. Interesting. Stokely's Al B and Jaga B both won the same year for Tony Bly. Guy B Gone and Grouse River Rock won the same year (Bodyguard), Keystone's Red Rage and Montero's Rock won the same year (Lacey), and of course the early years were dominated by Ghost Train offspring. That's kinda neat.
